CPR/AED/FIRST AID

SINGLE DAY CLASS

The Basic CPR/AED/First Aid teaches the basic fundamentals of life-saving techniques along with First Aid that helps students understand how to care for the injured and how to recognize signs and symptoms of emergency situations.

Certificate will be provided within 14 Business Days (count ONLY Monday through Friday non-holidays) ONLY upon successful completion of the course.

C-PRO (CPR for the Professional)

SINGLE DAY CLASS

The CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers teaches first responder and health care Provider level of cardiopulmonary resuscitation techniques in emergency situations. Use of the Automatic External defibrillator and Ambu Bag.

Certificate will be provided within 14 Business Days (count ONLY Monday through Friday non-holidays) ONLY upon successful completion of the course.

4hr Medication Aide Refresher

SINGLE DAY CLASS

Required annual continuing education for Registered Medication Aides (68hr – Assisted Living) and required every 3 years for non-registered Medication Technicians (32hr Medication Technicians in Adult Day Cares, Adolescent Group Homes, Correctional Facilities) includes all materials. Topics covered include but are not limited to updates on regulations, medication administration, insulin administration, patient safety, facility specific topics.

Babysitting Class

SINGLE DAY CLASS

The Babysitting Class is designed to provide youth who are planning to babysit with the knowledge and skills necessary to safely and responsibly give care for children and infants. This training will help participants to develop leadership skills; learn how to develop a babysitting business, keep themselves and others safe and help children behave; and learn about basic child care and basic first aid. The recommended age for this course is 11-15 years old.

Certificate will be provided within 14 Business Days (count ONLY Monday through Friday non-holidays) ONLY upon successful completion of the course.

Pet First Aid & CPR Class

SINGLE DAY CLASS

The Pet First Aid & CPR class is an instructor led class designed for dog and cat owners, pet caretakers, and anyone who is interested the in ABC’s (airway, breathing and circulation) of saving an animals life. Knowledge can make a difference for your pets sake and your pocketbooks.

Textbook fee $10 not included in $70.

Train-the-Trainer - Nurse Aide (CNA)

 SINGLE DAY CLASS

e Train-the-Trainer for Nurse Aide (CNA) is intended for RNs and LPNs who wish to teach unlicensed persons and how to establish a program, principles of adult learning, and preparing and presenting lesson plans in a Nurse Aide Program (CNA) approved by the Virginia Board of Nursing. The student Nurse Aide training course requires 80 hours of lecture/skills and 40 hours of clinical experience for students to apply to the Virginia Board of Nursing and sit for the state required Written/Oral & Skills Exams to become a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA).

Train-the-Trainer - Medication Aide

SINGLE DAY CLASS

The Train-the-Trainer for Medication Administration is a 2-DAY class and is intended for RNs, LPNs, or Pharmacists who wish to teach unlicensed persons to administer medications in accordance with the Drug Control Act of Virginia. Instruction will be provided on the Board of Nursing regulations governing medication aides, and how to establish a program, principles of adult learning, and preparing and presenting lesson plans for BOTH the 68-hour curriculum for assisted living facility staff AND on the 32hr curriculum for Adult Day Cares, Adolescent Group Homes, Correctional Facilities.

Pre-requisites: LPN, RN, or Pharmacist

32hr Medication Aide

MULTI-DAY CLASS / Textbook $25

The 32hr Medication Administration Course is a Virginia Board of Nursing approved curriculum for medication administration. Course content instructs participant how to administer medications & assist resident in self-administering medications, including blood sugar checks & insulin injections.

Prerequisites: None
Additional Requirements: Recommended that participants have minimum of 40-Hour Direct Care or Personal Care Aide class and be knowledgeable in the skills of Vital Signs (Blood Pressure, Pulse, Respirations).
Course Includes: Classroom Materials and Supplies

68hr Medication Aide

MULTI-DAY CLASS / Textbook fee $35

The 68hr Medication Administration Course is a Virginia Board of Nursing approved program. The course instructs participant how to administer & assist resident in self-administering medications, including blood sugar checks & insulin injections, in the assisted living environment. There are 68 hours of training, consisting of 48 hours of classroom training and 20 hours of clinical training in various assisted living facilities, to assist in Medication Management and Administration in assisted living facilities.
The cost includes all classroom materials and 1-set of scrubs *For classes @ Breath of Fresh Air location only. Certificate will be provided within 14 Business Days (count ONLY Monday through Friday non-holidays) ONLY upon successful completion of the course.

Not Included:
Students will be eligible to apply to Virginia Board of Nursing ($50) and the examination at PSI ($70) to become a Registered Medication Aide (RMA).
Student will also receive a complimentary "4hr Medication Aide Refresher Class" within 60 days’ completion of the course as a review prior to taking their Virginia Board of Nursing Medication Aide competency test.

Prerequisites:
A certificate of completion from one of the following:
* Virginia Department of Social Services approved 40hr Direct Patient Care program,
* Virginia Medicaid approved 40hr Personal Care Assistant certificate
* Virginia Board of Nursing approved Nurse Aide certificate

Additional Requirements:
1) Current PPD (TB) Test or Chest X-Ray ($25 to $45)
2) Current Criminal Background Check from the Virginia State Police - $15
3) Wrist watch with a sweep second hand (inexpensive $10 to $20)
4) Black shoes & Black Socks
** Must be vinyl or leather (leak-proof) & be closed top, toe & back
** No canvas or slip-ons, mules, clogs, lace-ups, etc...

Nurses Aide (CNA)

MULTI-DAY CLASS / Textbook fee $75

The Nurse Aide Program (CNA) is a Virginia Board of Nursing approved program. This program exceeds the required 80 hours of lecture/skills and 40 hours of clinical experience. Through lecture, video, role-playing, and hands-on skills laboratory and clinical practice, you learn procedural skills such as bathing, dressing, positioning, and vital signs. You also learn key communication techniques to provide compassionate care for the elderly and others in need of personal care. Our classroom/skills lab is equipped with hospital beds and all necessary medical equipment to practice skills.

The cost includes all Classroom materials and supplies ($100) and CPR/AED/First Aid 2yr certification ($70), 2-sets of scrubs ($35) and Examination Fee ($94). Cost does NOT include Textbook ($75)

Certificate will be provided within 14 Business Days (count ONLY Monday through Friday non-holidays) ONLY upon successful completion of the course. Student will be eligible to apply to the Virginia Board of Nursing approved NNAAP.

*State Exam is usually held at our training center when NACES EXAM scheduling permits.

Personal Care Aide

MULTI-DAY CLASS / Textbook fee $25

The 40hr Personal Care Aide program meets and exceeds Virginia Department of Social Services approved curriculum for direct patient care staff in licensed assisted living facilities. The course content instructs participant in assisting residents with activities of daily living, patient transfers, nutrition, oral & personal hygiene with hands-on training in our state-of-the-art skills laboratory.

The cost includes all supplies and textbook for class. Certificate will be provided upon successful completion of course.

Class Duration: Usually 5-Days (possibly 10hr, 4-Day classes offered occasionally)

Phlebotomy Class

MULTI-DAY CLASS / Textbook fee $40

As a phlebotomy technician you are an important member of the clinical laboratory team. New diagnostic techniques, clinical laboratory technology and automated instruments have greatly increased the volume of - and demand for - medical laboratory testing ... and Phlebotomy staff to meet the demand. Please order and bring your textbook with you to the first day of class.

Pre-requisites: CNA, PCA, Medication Aide, Medical Assistant, EMT, Paramedic, Pharmacy Technician, LPN, RN or other health care certification
Class Duration: 3-Days/Week for 4 Weeks – then internship for required needle sticks



Pharmacy Tech

MULTI-DAY CLASS / Textbook fee $59

The Pharmacy Technician course is designed to prepare students to assist and support licensed pharmacists in providing health care and medications to patients. Students will obtain a broad knowledge of pharmacy practice, and Pharmacy Law skilled in the techniques required to order, stock, package, prepare and dispense medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. There will be a research project to complete during week 5 and 6 of the class duration. You will be required to pass your Breath of Fresh Air final exam with an 80% in order to successfully complete this class. Please order your textbook and bring with you on the first day of class. Certificate will be provided upon successful completion of the course. Student will be eligible to apply for the national (ExCPT/PTCB) or state (Virginia) examination.

Prerequisites: No High School Diploma required for State Examination
Additional Requirements: Recommended that participants be Medication Aide (32hr or 68hr)
